Artist Statement

In my artistic journey, I find inspiration in the intricacies of everyday life, channelling my emotions and thoughts into a visual language that revolves around key themes. My work explores the realms of personal introspection, bodily autonomy, sexual liberation, the power dynamics inherent in photography, and the collaborative synergy of diverse artistic mediums.

Through my work, I aim to prompt viewers to contemplate the impact of photography on contemporary society and its potential to either empower or constrain subjects, similar to bioethical considerations. My primary audience comprises those interested in these themes, followed by fellow artists and the broader public.

Having lived in Japan and now in the UK as a Hong Kong native, I explore cultural nuances shaped by the fusion of Eastern and Western influences. From documenting landscapes to delving into subculture, my artistic evolution now centres on personal philosophies. Currently, my focus centers on personal interests and philosophies, with a future aspiration to delve deeper into the profound issues of body autonomy and sexual liberation.

As a proponent of liberalism, my art advocates for free love, rejecting constraints in favour of freedom, openness, and sharing. "Dancing in Bondage," a recent series, is a collaborative exploration of shared themes of honour, resilience, and sacrifices made for one's art. It highlights the delicate balance between a dancer's submission to physical limitations and the will of a choreographer while celebrating the convergence of new and traditional art forms.

This series visualizes shared experiences of dominance and submission, using external puppeteering of the dancer's movements and internal encasement of the artist within their body. The technical skill required reflects themes of honor and dedication in both fields. "Dancing in Bondage" aims to celebrate the harmonious convergence of art forms, emphasizing their shared complexity and surprising similarities within a concise yet powerful narrative.
